Modimolle Primary School has shown determination to go as far as possible in the under-12 Danone Nations Cup, by outshining fellow opponents to emerge victorious during the Nylstroom circuit leg of the competition.
In the first match of the day, Lekkerbreek Primary School defeated Hector Peterson Primary School 2-0, with Modimolle Primary School beating Dagbreek Primary 3-1.
The third match was between Lord Milner Primary School of Settlers, which was knocked out by Lekkerbreek Primary School in a 3-1 defeat.
During the final match, Modimolle Primary School narrowly defeated Lekkerbreek 2-1 to secure a spot in the next stages of the competition.
Team Manager and educator at the school, Ediel Mokoka, told The BEAT the school had serious preparations ahead of the matches, and that it was hoped the players would go all the way to the regional showdown.
“Our wish is to play in the regional leg of the competition and even go as far as the provincial level,” he said.
Mokoka acknowledged local young coaches Hope Motau and Tshepo Selamolela for their support and role they played in ensuring that the level of football at the school is at an all-time high.
The team will now compete with winners from other circuits in the next stages of the competition, at a yet to be announced venue and date.
