A total of two handball players and one member of the technical staff were headed for an international tournament in Europe.

Handball coach Thabo Baloyi from Modimolle, Rooiberg-based handball players Karabo Magoshi and Itumeleng Molekoa, are part of the nation’s handball team.

Both Magoshi and Molekoa play their game at Itireleng Strides Handball Club, a team comprising mainly of pupils at Itireleng Secondary School.

The team has since qualified for the international showdown in Europe, whereby various countries were going through a bidding process to host the event.

The qualification spot is a sequel to the South African team’s sterling performances during a tournament in the Zambian capital of Lusaka.

The international handball tournament is scheduled to take place on dates yet to be determined in the year 2019.

Both players and the coach were part of the South African handball squad which took part in a tournament in Zambia last month.
