Polokwane City trials for local youngster

Premier Soccer League campaigners Polokwane City FC have invited Bela-Bela soccer development rising star Thabang Simelane for trials.

The Bela-Bela Soccer Academy goal-minder was spotted during a friendly match between his young side and the Polokwane City FC development squad played on Wednesday 2 May.

On trials Simelane (19) would have the mouth-watering opportunity to work with Polokwane City FC senior side goal-keeper, the Zimbabwean George Chigova.

He should also attract the eye of senior side head coach Bernard Molekwa.

It is an open secret that opportunities for goal-minders at the highest level of national soccer are rare.

The Polokwane City FC development side for which the Bela-Bela boy shall be on trial, plays in the popular Multichoice Disk League.

Simelane hails from Bela-Bela’s RDP settlement of extension 5.

He is the goal-minder for the Waterberg SAB Regional League log pacesetters, Bela-Bela Diesel ‘n Dust FC.

Simelane has played for the Bela-Bela Soccer Academy for three years.

He has previously played for Opleft FC.

Bela-Bela Soccer Academy coach, Sam Modise, expressed his joy at the opportunity opening up for the youngster.
