A do-or-die battle awaits National First Division campaigners Black Leropards FC and two other Limpopo-based professional soccer teams.
The Thohoyandou-based so-called Lidoda Duvha (day shall come), have a date with second-placed Jomo Cosmos FC on Sunday 6 May.
Should Black Leopards FC lose the match, then there is a real chance that the team would miss out on the forthcoming promotional play-offs which might even earn them a place in the multi-million rand Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Black Leopards FC failed to consolidate its position at number two after losing 2-1 to already-promoted Highlands Park FC.
Chances going forward are that Jomo Cosmos FC might consider fielding a weaker side because the team is already guaranteed a place at the promotional play-offs, which might translate into an easy victory for Black Leopards FC.
Having said that, in the same breadth, Jomo Cosmos FC might as well field their strongest team, as part of the preparations for the play-offs.
Things were early this week not looking good too for Limpopo’s two PSL campaigners, Baroka FC and Polokwane City FC.
Polokwane City has been slipping down the league log standings after two successive losses and a draw, leaving them at number 13.
Should Polokwane City FC lose out to the high-flying Chippa United FC on Saturday 12 May, the former might slip to the relegation zone, with the real threat to be relegated to the lower ranks next season.
Baroka FC might still look somewhat safe, but that also depends on permutations around other fixtures.
The Ga-Mphahlele lads have to beat Supersport United FC to stay safe from relegation because a loss is a non-starter.
