The contract of the municipal manager, OP Sebola, concluded on the end of March and while the municipality completes the process of appointing a new municipal manager, council has to appoint an acting municipal manager.

It goes without saying that a munici-pality cannot function properly without a municipal manager and council will meet on Wednesday 25 April to appoint an acting municipal manager or will request the provincial department of CoGHSTA to second an official to act. This will be council’s second attempt at appointing an acting municipal manager and we apologise to all residents who might have been affected by the vacancy.

The appointment of a new municipal manager is crucial as the debt owed to Eskom continues to be a huge challenge and the municipality has defaulted on the re-payment of the bulk debt of R144 million.

We would like to call on all creditors of the municipality to submit their full details in order to arrange payment.

The Mookgophong Licencing Office is currently under investigation following allegations of bribery and corruption. The section which deals with driver’s and learner’s licences has been closed until the investigation is complete.

We request residents to be patient and encourage those who want to assist the municipality in any way or want to report any form of corruption or maladministra-tion to contact the mayor directly by sen-ding email to

Residents should keep an eye out for the IDP meeting in their ward during May where the new draft budget for the 2018/19 financial year will be discussed, as well as the new proposed tariffs. Our aim is to only increase tariffs in line with the inflation rate.

All municipal customers are requested to check their contact details with the municipality to ensure their accounts are emailed to them. It is also important to note that the inputs to the valuation role closes on Monday 30 April. It can be accessed at

A severe storm hit Modimolle on Wednesday 11 April with rainfall of up to 80 mm, causing chaos and severe damage. We would like to thank the team who managed the situation under such trying circumstances.
