The Modimolle based TRV Live Band has been shortlisted as one of the eight bands which are expected to compete for a cool R25 000 prize-money and a recording deal.
The battle of the bands will be showcased during the Back to the City Festival in Newtown, Johannesburg on Friday 27 April.
Besides the battle of the bands, the 12th Annual Back to the City Festival will feature among others, performing artists, deejays, graffiti artists and break-dancers and many other acts.
The ever-rising TRV is the only live band from Limpopo which will be performing at this event, with the hope that they will come back with the main prize.
During the week, members of the band were hard at work as they were preparing to battle with their equals from various parts of the country on Freedom Day.
Band member Tebogo Monama said they will be offering free transport for the locals who would have bought tickets for the event.
The transport will depart from Modimolle to the venue of the event.
He said tickets were available at R250, available at Computicket, to accompany and support the band to compete and showcase what TRV was made of.
“We are working hard and are making extra efforts during rehearsals. Limpopo will be proud of TRV and that time is nearer. We would really appreciate the support from our fans, they determine what we are on stage and the show would not be the same without them. TRV aims to make a mark in this industry and we hope this would be the beginning of greater things to come,” Monama said.
